Elon University
Elon University is a dynamic private comprehensive university known for excellent arts and sciences along with outstanding professional programs. Elon is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, east of Greensboro and northwest of Raleigh/Durham. Founded by the Christian Church (now the United Church of Christ) in 1889, Elon is situated on a beautiful and historic 575-acre campus. Elon's 4,992 undergraduate and 636 graduate students come from 43 states, the District of Columbia and 51 other nations. About 28 percent are from North Carolina, with 10 percent from Maryland, 8 percent from Virginia and many students from New England, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
The University of North Carolina is ranked in the top 10 of all colleges and universities. It is the hub of a 16 campus consolidated university and is the most comprehensive university in the state. Established in 1795, UNC is the first state supported institution in the nation. Carolina enrolls over 24,000 students in 14 colleges and schools. More than 70 departments and related centers provide instruction in over 100 fields. Curriculum offerings lead to 22 different undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. UNC hospitals serve as the teaching facility for the UN Medical School. Carolina's School of Dentistry is one of the nation's best. The Law, Business and Medical graduate schools rank in the nation's top 20. 

Duke University
Duke University is ranked sixth in the nation among colleges and universities. It is a private college and maintains a highly selective admissions policy. About 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students attend eight major schools and colleges on two campuses. More than 86 percent of the undergraduate students come from outside North Carolina. Graduate programs are offered in the arts, sciences and engineering. Professional schools offer degrees in business, medicine, divinity, forestry, law and nursing. The Duke Medical Center serves as a teaching hospital for Duke Medical School. 

University of North Carolina Greensboro  
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public, coeducational, doctoral-granting, residential university chartered in 1891. It is one of the three original institutions of The University of North Carolina System. Approximately 17,157 students (31 percent male, 69 percent female) from 49 states and more than 70 countries including 13,156 traditional undergraduates. The fall 2007 freshman class is the largest ever at 2,445. Minority enrollment is about 26%.

North Carolina State University
North Carolina State University is among the top universities for research in theoretical and applied sciences. With 27,000 students, primarily for North Carolina, State is the largest of the educational institutions in the consolidated University of North Carolina system. The academic programs are organized into ten schools, with the largest enrollment in the engineering program. Programs are offered in 90 undergraduate fields, 75 masters and 48 doctoral degrees. Eight professional degrees are also noted. State's School of Textiles is not only the largest in the country that is considered to be the best by those in the industry. State's curriculum also includes forestry, humanities, social sciences, physical and mathematical sciences, veterinary medicine and education.
